How much will my project cost?
A useful price needs a defined scope and site conditions. Excavation access, foundation work, drainage, the selected assembly and finish repairs can change the work involved. Request a written quote and compare exclusions as carefully as the total. This website does not provide a property-specific estimate.
Can I just replace my existing basement window?
Possibly, but confirm the new model’s usable opening and suitability for the intended room use. If the foundation opening, well or drainage also needs work, that is additional scope. Ask the installer to separate replacement from those items in the quote.
Does an egress window make my basement a legal bedroom?
A window alone does not establish that. Room use can involve requirements beyond the window. Confirm the applicable rules for your property with Building Services using our local permit guide.
Will a well cover stop water coming into my basement?
It depends on the source. A cover may not solve water entering because of drainage, grading or problems around the installation. Describe when and where water appears and have the full arrangement assessed before buying a proposed fix.
Who handles permits and cleanup?
Ask each contractor to specify this in writing. Include application fees, drawings, inspections, soil and debris removal, interior repairs and landscaping restoration where relevant. Do not assume those items are included in an installation price.
Are you the company that installs the window?
No. Cedar Rapids Egress is operated by OTTO Software Systems, LLC as an information and referral website. We receive your inquiry first and do not perform installation work.
Will submitting the form send my details to contractors?
Not immediately. OTTO receives your inquiry. If we identify a provider, we will ask your permission naming that provider before sharing it. We are developing our local connections; a contractor response is not guaranteed.
Is there a charge or obligation to hire?
Submitting an inquiry is free and does not commit you to hiring anyone. Providers may pay us for referrals. You review and agree to any project price directly with the provider you choose.
