What a new installation can include
A new opening may require excavation outside the foundation, concrete cutting, preparation and support of the opening, a window and frame, sealing, a window well, drainage work, and interior repairs. The exact scope depends on the wall, ground conditions and intended room use. Ask who coordinates each part and which work is excluded.
Choose the location before choosing the window
A site visit should consider interior access, exterior grade, nearby utilities and equipment, decks or landscaping, and room layout. Tell the installer about visible dampness or past water entry. A convenient place for furniture may not be the best place for excavation or an emergency exit.
If you are planning a basement bedroom

Compare the complete written scope
- Excavation, soil removal and access to the work area.
- Foundation cutting and any required structural design or support.
- Window model, opening operation, well, drainage, and applicable ladder or cover.
- Permit responsibility, inspections and documentation.
- Interior trim, wall repair, grading, cleanup and exclusions.
Ask how hidden conditions and changes will be priced before work begins.
